Localbitcoins is great because in most cases no verification is needed, meaning that it is possible to stay anonymous. The average price is approximately 10 percent higher than elsewhere. This is what people are willing to pay to keep their privacy. Sometimes buyers / sellers may ask for identification before trading. Do check out Localbitcoins if you live in a country where other big exchanges do not operate. There is often a seller nearby.
Bitaccess is dedicated to helping Canadians buy bitcoin in Canada. You can pay with cash at thousands of convenient stores, pay online instantly with interac online, or visit one of our locally manufactured BTMs.
I’m sure that both bitcoin.de and kraken are part of those top sites to buy bitcoin though remember that most beginners would prefer to get their 1st coins on an easy-to-use exchange… such as coinbase or cex.
The good thing about Kraken is you can buy using FIAT and they charge you next to nothing to withdraw your funds. Most other sites charge higher fees when you buy and then again when you withdraw so you get bitten twice, so to speak.
Bitstamp boasts deposit fees as low as 0.05% and, depending on how much Bitcoin you want to buy, you’ll be charged a transaction fee of between 0.25%-0.1%. If you deposit/withdraw your money via SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) you won’t be charged any hidden commissions, as is the case with some sites.
People who are into bitcoin buying can readily do it at Coinmama which is an exchange service online for bitcoin purchasing through the use of e-wallet or debit/credit card. However, they do not accept PayPal.
The largest bitcoin exchange in the world at the moment in terms of US$ volume is Bitfinex, although it is mainly aimed at spot traders. Other high-volume exchanges are Coinbase, Bitstamp and Poloniex, but for small amounts, most reputable exchanges should work well. (Note: at time of writing, the surge of interest in bitcoin trading is placing strain on most retail buy and sell operations, so a degree of patience and caution is recommended.)
Summary: Virwox is not a Bitcoin exchange per se. It’s actually a Second Life reseller which allow you to exchange SLL (Second Life Linden’s) in to Bitcoins. So why is it listed here? Because currently it’s the only known exchange in which you can buy Bitcoins with PayPal.
Based out of San Francisco, Coinbase allow users to buy with USD, Euros & GBP. Be sure to read up their information page which will help you get started. Coinbase really is a great site for multiple reasons, but most importantly because it’s intuitive. The user interface is so appealing and simple to use. Coinbase is also one of the most secure exchanges site and has over 18 million happy users per month. Card purchases are real simple and fees remain very competitive. The best part is that all user wallets are insured. Expert users can even activate a super-advanced & secure mutli-signature wallet. This guarantees that in the event Coinbase were to go offline then these users could still move their coins.
Bitstamp is rapidly gaining popularity in Europe as the best place to buy btc online. With its recent new HQ in Luxembourg (previously London), along with its well-acclaimed acceptance of Mastercard & VISA, Bitstamp has attracted quite a large user base among those asking how to get bitcoins with a debit card. As an added benefit, this is the cheapest place to trade BTC USD or EUR for high-volumes. The sign-up process is easy and once validated you will be able to purchase immediately. Withdrawing is just as fast. The ease of use here makes it an excellent choice. I would definitely recommend this to my mother.
Litecoin followed in 2011. Created by Charles Lee, an engineer who later helped build Coinbase, the leading cryptocurrency exchange, Litecoin is based on the same code as bitcoin but with a few tweaks designed to address two of its predecessor’s limitations: transaction speed and access to the mining process.
Sadly, with the demise of Cryptsy there is a need for a new major first-rate cryptocurrency exchange (aka altcoins). Having many medium-sized cryptocurrency exchange sites is a better situation than having one large amazing option. Bittrex (new account creation temporarily disabled) has now replaced Poloniex as the largest most amazing option. Its platform is functional enough to have attracted tens of millions of new customer every month. Things feel smooth when using Bittrex. All big and small trading pairs are offered and it is now possible to do cryptocurrency margin trading on major altcoins. This is a cool feature, but use it with caution as leveraged trading has a certain risk factor. Keep in mind that some of the best bitcoin exchange sites also do altcoins. Yobit, Bittrex, Cryptopia and Changelly, are great options worth checking out. Some even offer short selling on major coins.
Hi Mike, these reviews of the nicest places for buying bitcoin have helped me enormously. I’ve even understood the difference with depositing by credit card vs bank transfer (less fees with the latter on most exchanges).
Other options include Coinbase (Europe, USA & UK), SpectroCoin (Europe) and the decentralized exchange Bisq which is both worldwide and much more private because it is done without a trusted third-party company.
I think that the most popular platforms are comfortable with Bitcoin as their primary cryptocurrency. It’s the one that’s getting the most media buzz, and it’s how most people learn of cryptocurrencies first. A close second would be Ethereum. Other than those, there is a whole plethora of coins out there that have yet to distinguish themselves enough to gain traction. Still, security should always be one of the main concerns of the most trusted places and the best sites. Just an hour ago, it was revealed that Parity Technologies had a problem with their Ethereum Parity Wallet. Humorously enough,… Read more »
Yes they do offer bonuses for referrals, if you recommend a friend you can get 50% of the trading fees as commission. However despite this we believe that you shouldn’t choose an exchange based of a bonus scheme. Look at security and fees, these are the two most important things to look at when choosing your exchange, admittedly Binance are good and offer low fees, so definitely make sure you have them in your list of exchanges to research.
Like Litecoin, it’s based on the same fundamental blockchain concept as bitcoin, with blocks and hashes and such, but Ethereum adds its own distinctive twist. Funded in 2014 through an initial coin offering, Ethereum fancies itself “an enormously powerful shared global infrastructure” that, in addition to serving as a digital currency, runs special applications called “smart contracts.”
Investing in cryptocurrencies and other Initial Coin Offerings (“ICOs”) is highly risky and speculative, and this article is not a recommendation by Investopedia or the writer to invest in cryptocurrencies or other ICOs. Since each individual’s situation is unique, a qualified professional should always be consulted before making any financial decisions. In other words, the cryptocurrency has added privacy assurances similar to those traditionally afforded in foreign jurisdictions like Switzerland. In fact, Grayscale says Zcash can be considered an improvement on Swiss banking, since the network is more accessible to less wealthy individuals and is decentralized. With Zcash, “there is no single point of failure. Investors are not bound to the success or failure of a single entity, political regime, or economy”—as they are in Switzerland. This is the major argument in support of Grayscale’s eye-popping $60,000 hypothetical price projection.
Above, you’ve got different options for buying your first bitcoin or bit of ether, options for storing them, and options for spending them. But again: It’s your money. You’re going to want to be covered. Do your best to read the FAQs and terms & conditions documents for each service you use.
Bitpanda is an Austrian Start-Up Company that was founded in October 2014. The company allows you to buy Bitcoins or Ethereum with a credit card as well as with Wire transfers, Neteller, Skrill, SEPA and more. The company supplies its services to European countries only with a relatively low fee.
I’m sure that coinbase is the best site for buying bitcoin with a card. But IMO the cex website allows speedier purchases and is easier to use as a beginner. just like coinbase, cex offers both bank transf deposits and visa/mastercard. the best part is that you can trade ethereum and cex credited all users with equivalent BitcoinCash balances after the hard fork. that’s my personal taste for good places to get btc there are not that many out there. ok there’s lots of “average” sites – such place have huge fees and may not be as trustworthy as… Read more »
For a fee, you can send them a coin and receive another back. Of course, it is effectively making trades for you so you don’t need to understand charts and market trading. The slick interface coupled with a 0.5% fee on all transactions does make it an appealing prospect. However if you trade fiat currencies it seems like that exchange rate is a lot higher. So it is advised only to trade altcoins on Changelly.

While the rare ICO captures the attention of investors and raises the cryptocurrency it requires, many will inevitably fail,. Studying the market is not complicated and gives one a good idea of how the coin will fare.
If you’re an experienced cryptocurrency trader, Bitfinex likely offers everything you need and more. The chief draw is probably the platform’s high Bitcoin and Ethereum liquidity, but its margin funding, leverage, and multiple order types offer a lot of flexibility.
A popular site for buying bitcoin or ether from those far-out tricky countries that are not accepted by the larger exchanges. Note that users cannot sell back to the site – only buy. There’s much more detail in my inspection of Coinmama which I encourage you to read.
